I've always wanted to say that... I see all the kids doing it. It must be the cool thing to do right?

Simon, I've got GB of data for the site. I've tried giving it to people before, but they never seem to have enough devotion to maintain such a site. Best of luck, and I'll help where I can.

Awesome, thanks. Obviously things are still new here and finding their shape, but you (and anyone) are welcome to start posting stuff and uploading anything cool or useful. Let me know if you need me to take it all and host it. :)

Well I thought I would introduce myself. My names Bill and I have been hanging around paintball since the mid 80's. I found this site through Carter's and wouldn't you know it I missed meeting Simon the year he dropped the Simonizer off at the bunkhouse. I don't know what else to say except hi.

It's a boat.
Picture of my Father on said boat when they were ship wrecked on an island off the coast of France... no kidding....

I we were going buy parental unit's boats my nick would be either Le Caique (Caique:A light skiff or rowboat used on the Bosporus; also, a Levantine vessel of larger size.) or Kermode (Bear).

There's a little more to it than just that for me.
To make a long story short...
My Mums name is Ann, My dad's name was Mike.
They came up with the name of the boat by mixing the two names together Manike, and it kind of described my fathers sailing style (manic).
I'd always been a bit of a crazy kid myself.
I messed my life up pretty badly when I was 18. Car crash. Nearly killed someone, screwed my head up big time.
When I was first going onto the internet and Warpig's chat page (PigChat) I needed a user name. My parents had printed out the word "Manike" in a bunch of different fonts by the computer.
I had just been diagnosed as a "Manic Depressive" (I was a big mess for about 3 years, and paintball pulled me out of it, and saved my life, but that's another story).
So there I was being diagnosed as "Manic" and reading "Manike" on the paper by the computer as I looked for a user name to log into Warpig's chat room.
For all those reasons, it came together and I logged in and it stuck. Because I was kind of manic in my life too, people thought it simply described the way I lived and was a relevant nickname so it stuck in the real world too.
My boat is now called Manike Too. :)

Wow. What a fantastic picture!
I've been whale watching on my boat but only found Dolphins. Must be amazing to see Orca's in the wild!

My parents operated a Whale Watching Charter for 18 years (1989-2007). Eventually they were drummed out by the influx of high speed Zodiacs operating charters. I personally enjoyed the fact that we had two washrooms on board. Over the years my excitement of seeing the whales diminished, but not my passion for being on the water.
One thing that does stand out though - Whale Penis and Silly Tourists. It's pretty rare to witness whales mating, and silly tourists make it all that much enjoyable.

Awesome. My parents went on several whale watching charters, and saw some of the larger species. I never have :( but would like to.
I'm a huge fan of the water too. Learnt to swim at 2, and have been sailing since I was 8. I've raced everything from Windsurfers through dinghies to Yachts.
I was even in the Navy reserves for a while. :)
I spend most weekend on the water. Either off shore on my bigger boat (26') or in the back bays on the smallest jet boat with the biggest engine that I could buy.
I'd like to start sailing again at somepoint, but I don't really have the time. I loved sailing catamarans.

I lived in Alberta for a time, but I had to move back. Too flat, no ocean.
I am very fond of the water. I hate being in it, but being on it is energizing.

I once got offered a job in the middle of the country. I said no partly because I wanted to stay near a coast. :) I know exactly what you mean.
I am always happy when on the water. Even if we go offshore fishing and don't get a bite. It's still great to be out on the water!
*blink* So that explains it. I always wondered where your nick came from.

Oh sure, but that's why its called FISHING and not CATCHING. The rides out and back certainly can make up for a skunked trip.
