I had an Assult 80 come in a wile back and I was searching for the manual. After a pretty exhaustive search, I tracked down one of the guys from warmachine who hooked me up with this and I thought I would share.

Ahh Mike Woods. A great guy, he used to work for/with us for a while. Always a pleasure getting into gun design with him. An extremely interesting person who lives a fascinating life. He has some GREAT stories if ever you get chance to talk to him.
Come to think of it, some of our combined concepts should start appearing in patent publications soon.
He was very definitely the inventor of many new and cool pneumatic system, many of which were unfortunately patented by other people later on, or that he isn't given due credit for... Sucks. :(

yeah, the animation of how this gun works on zdspb.com is dead wrong, or out of date. i picked one up that flat out didn't work, so i tried to fix it with the animation on zds, but my parts look nothing like the ones in teh .gif. eventually i did figure out how it was supposed to work, but it was about 2 tanks of air later.
even then, the gun had massive design flaws, and HUGE blowback problems.

I'm under the impression that there were at least 2 versions of the Assault 80, one of them like Ydna's animation and the other like the manual posted above.

i know they had a "low force bolt" one, a regular bolt, and a reciprocating barrel version. but those were all on the front end of the gun. mine BTW was a reciprocating bolt and regular bolt system one, depending on the breach you put on it.
however, there is also something funny going on back in the spool region of the gun, mine looked like the above diagram, the solid poppit (idk if thats the right word for it), vs on zds the poppit has a spool system inside it as well.
i wonder if the zds one controlled blowback better. mine had the worst blowback of any gun i have ever seen.

I never saw it, but I heard somewhere that the other version actually had a moving barrel?
