When going through my archives from my old website I found a bunch of pictures of some of the Intimidators I designed for Bob Long back when Bob and NPS were working together. :)

Here's the pictures of the Russian Legion Intimidator.

It went through three iterations. I need to find the CAD files to see if I can show you. Initially I was told it was too sharp at the back, so I rounded it, then I was told it was still too sharp (boo) and I had to do it again. I didn't like the final version as much, but they finally accepted it and allowed me to go to production with it.

Interesting point. I had an agreement with Bob that when I made the first prototype of any gun I would send it to him so he could show people it and raise orders, on the promise that when he finished that and production started I would get the original prototype back. The Russian Legion gun is the only gun where I never got the original prototype back. Makes me sad. :(

I still have the first offs for all the other Intimidators I designed.

I like having the first for obvious reasons, and also because they are often subtly different to the final production model.

Pictures...

Here's a rendering of the original design.

Here's the second version fresh off the milling machine.

Wow those pics of the final look like really really good renders. Funny thing that may make you cringe, apparently the RL Jewel cut-out is almost the exact sizing of an american penny. I know a guy who lost the jewel and thought it was a good idea to super-glue a penny there (which he then went into the chatroom to ask how to remove).

Very insect-like (wings on the back) - really like it.

I can relate to wanting the first-offs, pretty sentimental thing for me.

Ditto. I have all my originals.

None of mine have gone into production yet, but I have all of the first working version of every design I've made. Those are the only ones I'm not willing to cannibalize for another project.

This was when Bob was going through his "every body has to be super cheap" phase and I wasn't allowed to spend any money on 3D milling.

The whole body is 2.5D operations and cut with form tools. Extremely cheap body to machine. Extremely.

No matter. I personally like the look of markers like this. Must be the vintage of when I started coming up in the world...

I'd still take a marker like that over half of the junk that is produced these days. At least you can fix a marker like that.

I didn't know you designed that marker Simon!

Or any of Bobs markers for that matter. I love mine! Still shoot the hell out of it!
