Hello my name is Simon and I like to do drawings....

I've still never seen the sketch that relates to, but I am familiar with it because of a good friend in Paintball. It does sum me up briefly, but there's more than that.

When I was 14 I got off the school bus at the bottom of the High Street in Stratford Upon Avon (yes I am English for those that couldn't work it out from my name) to walk to school and as I walked I cut through a magazine store to get warm and read the magazines. There I saw an APG and was immediately mesmerized by the concept of paintball.

Back then in England you had to be 16 to play paintball. For two years I bought the magazines and waited. My 16th Birthday party (20th of Oct) was playing paintball with a group of friends. I still remember the first two games VIVIDLY.

The first I ran up to close to the other team and tried to hide behind a tree that was too thin, and didn't last long.

The second was a village game where they occupied the village. I snuck up to a fallen tree root ball, and shot through the windows into the village. I shot player after player out, and my team won the game. That was it. Hooked for life.

The next weekend I took the train to Birmingham, home of Mayhem and the then VERY small WDP shops. I skated from the train station to the paintball shops and spent hours asking questions, and oggling the guns on the wall.

The next weekend after non stop pleading with my parents we went back and I bought my first paintball gun. A Lapco Spectre pump gun. I bought it from Owen Ronayne. Those of you connected to Paintball know Owen had a long carrier with WDP, including living in the USA in HB, before joining BadLands up in Canada where he still works.

Hmmm, getting pulled to go for lunch. The below text is just a space saver, but I will be back to finish it up later...

I am building a resource to capture the history and tech of paintball, and to help people that like to know more about their equipment, and want to modify/make new stuff. It's also a place where I will try to let people understand the thinking that went, and goes, into the products I design.

I want it to be a more smaller and more "friendly" community, back like the Tinkers Guild and Warpig used to be in the early days of paintball.

I am intending to do a lot of stuff including give aways on new products when they come out etc. and explain the new products in detail, and why they are what they are. I want to let people understand why they are what they are, and why they do what they do.

The "Insider" forum and product giveaways will be available to people that don't mind shedding the veil of anonymity and want to become a closer part of the community. Such people would need to post in the Who's who forum (only other "Insiders" can see those posts) with a picture and a name/nickname, then ask to join the group via their control panel.

Why am I doing that? Well to be honest the hate and negativity of the modern internet world makes me sad. I find people are more genuine and less arseholes once they have introduced themselves and let people know who they are.

I am not going to tolerate arseholes or obnoxious behaviour.

I'm open to anyone posting anything that will HELP other people. Any product, any era etc. I want it to be a community of learning, and endeavours and helping each other.

I will do my part, and then we will see if anyone else gives a crap, or if I am just nuts http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/facepalm.gif . Genuinely I don't care if it only ends up being 5-10 people. If they benefit from it, and enjoy it, it's worthwhile. The haters can go elsewhere. http://imgs.pbnation.com/smilies/biggrin.gif

Until I get chance to fill this in with a little more detail please check out the Article Facefull wrote on me some years back...

Yay Scott! Thanks for joining us here.

Yep after 20+ years in paintball I still love it. :D I still feel like I have so much more work to do as well. Just not enough hours in a day to get it all done. :)
