Few weeks ago I had a small argument with one guy who produce paintball barrels about teflon (ptfe) coating internal surface in the barrel. He claims that barrel producers doesn't coat barrel internals ant what they advertise as teflon coating or ceramics is really 3rd type hard anodizing. My point was that anodizing and teflon/ceramics coating are completely different processes.
So Simon, let me ask this question to the source. Does barrel producers coats bores with low friction coatings or not.

As far as I know only one company, J&J, advertise that their barrels have a ceramic & teflon impregenated or something finish. Either way, I dont see lowering the friction from a nice mirror polish anodizing to adding teflon or whatever as a particularly sound way of making a barrel "self-cleaning". Its much more practical to pursue developments that avoid ball breakage all together. Cure bolts, anti-chop eyes, detent design and so forth.

No such thing as "self cleaning" unless they actually do "self clean".

Type III Hard Annodize is what I spec for bodies and barrels and the like. It is just as good as any other coating and cheap to do en-masse.

Pro Team marketed a teflon "barrel treatment" for a while that was supposed to aid in barrels cleaning themselves. Haven't seen it for sale in a while though.

And then of course there's the Crossfire "ramrod" barrel
