This video clearly demonstrates how the old system caused balls to back up against the anti jam system. This in turn caused popcorning, and didn't leave the balls long to drop into the gaps in the drive carrier, which causes jams.
In comparison the Freeway system allows balls to bypass and drop into the earliest empty slot to improve feeding. The balls are also far less to be bounced into the air and "popcorn"
As a side note, this video was filmed at 20bps! You can see how the drive carrier stops and starts as it feeds each ball. This is typical of any force feed loader system and it's why it's so important how a loader is activated for each ball fired by the gun.
In this system you can also see the benefits of the clutch slipping. It allows the motor to keep running but doesn't result in crushed paintballs.
