I believe they are almost compulsory for any engineer/tinkerer/geek.

I have two!

Tolan (part Main Coon) and Rugby (domestic short hair).

Here they are when I first got them.

Bah! Cats, I hate them. That being said, within 24 hours of owning our own home, my wife adopted 2 calico kittens. Wonderful things, except now they are grown. I adopted a Pit not too long ago, and they terrorize him. They sit in the hall and won't let him get to his food, it's quite hilarious.

They definitely provide hours and hours of entertainment :)

I am glad I got two. They get to entertain each other (i.e. beat the crap out of each other) and it stops them wrecking my house.

They are different personalities.

I've got 2 Bengals (sisters from the same litter), and a GIANT gold cat who is the offspring of one of the Bengals and a Russian Blue. We do not understand why he is gold and twice the size of his mother.

Yes, the 2 girls are leash trained. We've taken them on walks.

I've never really liked cats, always been a dog person. Now we have two cats, one of them my wife got shortly after we started dating when I was still in college, the other we got a year and a half ago. It took having cats again to start liking them. My cats were evil when I was little, one of them jumped on my head and started going to down on my scalp like a scratching post, kinda ruined them for me for a long time.

The older one is racist, he will only play with toys that are black and white. Didn't think cats could differentiate colors to that extent, but it doesn't matter what the toy is, or how much catnip I stuff inside it, he will only play with the black and white ones.

He's also had an 8 year inappropriate relationship with a furby clock my wife gave him to play with when he was only a couple of months old.

That's the younger one. We made sure to get a black and white cat so the older one would play nicer with him. That, and she thought they would make a cute pair. Sadly, he has a kitty variation of IBS and needs a special diet. Freaking prescription cat food is expensive, thankfully there is a non-prescription alternative that is almost identical that I can cut the prescription food with to no ill effect, but that leaves him with pretty ripe gas if we give him just that.

Two cats is the perfect number. I've got two myself, Max (4) and Ricci (unknown, but old and cranky, estimated to be about 13).

I want a Bob cat. :)

If I get the new house I am looking at I might need to get an outside cat for keeping mice and rats out of the out buildings.

Listen, I got your cats covered Simon. A friend of mine runs a cat rescue here, and literally has tons of cats (most of which are super awesome). She has a whole truckload of barn cats right now that are super awesome! My girl will even spay or neuter it for free! :)

Simon, are you expecting Norway rats? Or actual Norwegians who won't vacate the property?

I've seen that before. It's still funny. I have to keep stopping myself from getting any more cats. I almost came back with another one from PetSmart a while back.

Simon

Is that pod pack attached to the ceiling? or was the picture taken the other way up on the floor then rotated?

Here's a cat home I made with an old monitor and a heated pad. :)

This particular thread is a little too painful for me since I lost my cat in January of this year. Her name was Sam and she was o great companion. I am not a cat lover by nature but she won me over - she was supposed to be my wife's pet. She was a short-hair British Blue ans at full grown she was only 5.5 poinds. Everyday I would come home and she would be sleeping in my computer chair. If I went on a trip I would have to retrieve her out of my suitcase before I lef. I miss her. Here are a few of the pictures that survived the computer crash.

She was beautiful.

Cats rule. I just got home last night and they wouldn't leave me alone. I guess they missed me.

I guess the inevitable is occurring... I actually find the family cat to be interesting, and probably the best cat ever. I still prefer dogs, though...they're actually useful. :p

Turkish Angora, rabbit like fur and blue/yellow eye combo... ours was found abandoned in the subdivision, a bit wild and starving. Now, she's very mild mannered, playful and stays out of the way. She only meows if she's hungry or wants outside, and never destroys anything.

I found a use for the 2nd of 2 barrel graffiti/sleeves you gave my son and I, Simon. Strangely, she didn't seem to mind. The other sleeve is on my Edge.

Please excuse the quality, I only had access to my phone's camera.
